COMPETITIVE CHEER

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The GPY Cheer Competition Squad is open to current GPY sideline cheerleaders who wish to take their cheer skills to the next level! The comp squad will perform a dynamic choreographed routine that incorporates cheer, dance, tumbling, and stunting at recreational competitions throughout Washington state.

Participation in competitive cheer is a significant commitment. All practices & performances are mandatory. 

General Information

• Open to cheerleaders registered for the 2025 sideline season​
• *Tryouts required for placement on the competition team*
  • ​Cheerleaders will perform a cheer, dance, jumps & tumbling skills for a panel of judges
  • Cheerleaders will be evaluated on overall performance, skill level, energy, facials, motion technique, attitude, & coachability
• Tryouts will take place April 22nd, 2025

Practices:

• Once a week competition practices will begin in May
• Competitive cheerleaders are required to attend weekly tumbling classes at Northshore Gymnastics
• Practices will increase to 2 per week beginning in November
• Extra practices may be added as needed
• Attendance at all practices and events is MANDATORY

Performances:

• Comp Squad will perform at the North Cascade Youth Football League Cheer Showcase on November 15th
• Comp Squad will compete at a total of 4 competitions in December & January
• Competitions are held on Saturdays and are located in Western Washington

2025 Competitive Cheer Program Cost

• $400 + $40 per tumbling class

The registration fee for competitive cheer includes:

• Practice facility rental fees
• Team registration fees for each competition
• Comp liner
• Comp bow
• Comp briefs
• Comp poms
• ​Comp warm-up jacket
• Custom music & choreography
